Ubisoft says "sorry" for DRM issues.

The publishers claim that the problem that affected 1 in 20 users was caused by attacks on the PC server.


Ubisoft sent out apologies to PC customers that were 'frozen out' of their games over the weekend due to DRM problems - and blamed a hack of its servers for the issue.


Gamers found themselves unable to play Assassin's Creed II and Silent Hunter due to the DRM requirement that users' online connection remains unbroken.


Ubisoft said on its official Twitter account today:


'Apologies to anyone who couldn't play ACII or SH5 yesterday. Servers were attacked which limited service from 2:30pm to 9pm Paris time.

'95% of players were not affected, but a small group of players attempting to open a game session did receive denial of service errors.'


...so this "brilliant" new protection system designed for fighting pirates (with little success) is actually punishing the people who do recognize their hard work.Nice Ubisoft, really nice.

Ubisoft`s anti-piracy system lasted only a few hours.

About 2 weeks ago in a post about Assassin`s Creed 2 i was telling you about Ubisoft`s new anti-piracy system of which they were very proud . Unfortunately for them, their system was "defeated" in a few hours.


Silent Hunter 5 was the victim. The game released 3 days ago requires an internet connection,the system constantly checking with the Ubisoft servers. Within a few hours the system was cracked, so problem solved and the game appeared on all the trackers within a blink of an eye.


Ubisoft issued a press release denying the system was beat down, saying that the cracked game version is incomplete but despite that, those who downloaded Silent Hunter 5 said that it`s "rolling" fine and has no "disadvantages" .

Assassin’s Creed 2 – net drops, game drops.

Even though we dont like it, bad news is coming for those who can`t wait to play Ezio Auditore, main character for Assassin's Creed 2 on the PC. Rumor has it,the game has a protection "system" against piracy,relied on the user`s internet connection. More accurate, in order to run the game, in single player mode, you`ll have to permanently be connected to the Ubisoft servers. Internet disconnection leads to Assassin`s Creed 2 disconnection. Player has the possibility to save his progress, but that evidently,isn`t too heart warming.

Ubisoft`s decision recieved a wave of critiques coming from the specialised media.

It remains to be seen if Ubisoft will revoke this decision due to fans pressure, untill the 4th(EU release) and 16th of March(US release).
